Well...try to locate the tomb of Barthelemy Pons on the graveyard of Bugarach village please. And if you find - please make some Pictures of his grave stone and try to read what is written on it. That would be a cool story as there is really not a lot known about this very special priest...

Oh and Hans...we're going to need confirmation, so be sure to bring a shovel...;-)

You'd better read the inscription first.

This was mystic.
I finished on the gravejard and wanted to go back to the car, but on the half way back, I decided to go back to the graveyard to make some shots, just for impression. Then I found this grave.

I wanted to read the text, but as much as is wanted, I cant..... It was impossible for me.

I think, that the broken Jesus falls from the cross on top of the colum. Nearly three meter high.

Can anyone imagine, what you will feel, when he falls down and breaks into two parts , just when you are there on such a day......

So please sheila I am shure, you can read the text.

brrr its cold outside (26°)
Hans

PS I will never set a foot on that grave yard in Bugarach :|

You will get them.

My idea is, when I'm there again; I will try to feel the letters with my fingertips.

Thanks Dav

But it can't be so complicated to read the text. I can ask the priest.

Here is one more shot

I think that broken Jesus was meant as an omen for me...

A hotel night in Berlin can be wonderful, and it can be awful.

Munich-Berlin finally got flying after a long delay. But in Berlin, the flight home to Stockholm was postponed for hours, then got cancelled just before midnight, along with two other flights. And somehow they managed to lose my luggage in the chaos. No flight and all my stuff gone. Hundreds of angry people at the airport...

Air Berlin sucks, in case you didn't know.

Information on the Abbé Pons is very scarce. He became the Curé of Rennes-le-Château in 1836. His name appeared in Saunière’s account book s in 1897. He either made a donation or left a legacy to the parish of Rennes-le-Château. Researchers have taken this to mean that he provided the funds for the estaruation of the church. However the sum involved appears too small for Saunière’s project.

Some sources say that he was a healer too...and a crook.....but really not a lot of info available...but quiet a time he spent in RLC. Some sources also say that he was forced to leave RLC. Interesting person me thinks...

According to Pierre Jarnac
In 1836, after a few makeshift repairs had been made to the presbytery, the Abbé Pons was appointed parish priest to Rennes-le-Château. After his death in 1878, the post remained vacant. Then in 1881, the Abbé Charles Eugène Mocquin was appointed but was replaced a few months later by Antoine Croc who stayed until 1885, when he left for Castelreng near Limoux \and the Abbé Saunière was appointed.

There must be pre 19thC maps of RLC, either in their Maire or with SESA at Carcassonne. Fire them an email dude, I've found most depts helpful.

On March 16th 1879 the Municipality approved funds for the construction of the sacristy and provided the land for it. They also funded in April 1883 repairs to the bell tower which had cracks on all four sides and repairs to the church roof.

According to Franck Marie, M Pons found gold coins at Soubirous. Was this the Abbe Pons and has this been mentioned elsewhere?
