Someone has misread and transposed the date of death into the place of death.

You think he died in Bugarach? And is buried there?

However, since he retired to Bugarach ( either the village or the commune ) then yes, I would assume he is buried there.

I only have them up until 1790.

fmh,

tell me exactly what you want and where I have to go.

I will do it in the next days. In the moment, I am every day in Rennes les Bains for swimming, and it is not so far from Bugarach.

regards Hans

Well...try to locate the tomb of Barthelemy Pons on the graveyard of Bugarach village please. And if you find - please make some Pictures of his grave stone and try to read what is written on it. That would be a cool story as there is really not a lot known about this very special priest...

I will go there tomorrow

One hint : Try to ask Holger (living...) in the "Schmiede". Maybe he knows something about the abbe in question.

You will have my report tomorrow on this hour.

Funny coincidence. I was at Walchensee and Einsiedl - and above, on Steinriegel and Klausenkopf to name two hills - today and yesterday 8)

Very bad connection up in the hills, but ok down at the lake.

At least I managed to get photos of what I wanted, some holes in the ground 8)

And here we are, (34° and no wind)

The graveyard is quite small.
Many gravestones were so heavily weathered that the inscriptions could not be deciphered.

I could not find Pons grave.

But around the middle of the cemetery is a grave which is somehow different than the others.
It is higher and has a completely different style than the others. It is simple and elegant when you can say something like this from a grave.
It was not possible for me to decipher the inscription. Maybe when you speak french ?
In the inscription I believe "..ons" to recognize.
The amazing thing is that I could not see any annual figures.

Today was sunday and I could not find anyone in the church, and sadly : the "presbytery" I found is a restaurant now.

So I will return to Bugarach in the next days. I know a german guy, who lives in the village. He can help me to find the priest to ask him about Pons.

Here some pictures
